What is the ACARTS?
The Allen County Amateur Radio Technical Society (ACARTS) is a long-standing and dynamic organization dedicated to fostering the vibrant hobby of amateur radio within Allen County, Indiana, and the surrounding region. Since 1967, we have been a cornerstone of the local ham radio community, bringing together individuals of all experience levels who share a passion for wireless communication, technology, and public service.
Our mission is to:
- Promote Learning and Growth: We provide a supportive environment for members to expand their knowledge and skills in all aspects of amateur radio through regular meetings, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.
- Build Community: Our meetings and events create a strong sense of camaraderie, offering a platform to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share experiences, and forge lasting friendships.
- Serve Our Community: ACARTS members are committed to giving back by providing essential communication support during local emergencies, public events, and community initiatives.
- Explore the Diverse World of Ham Radio: From making contacts across the globe (DXing) and participating in exciting contests to experimenting with digital modes and preparing for emergencies, ACARTS encourages exploration of the many facets of our hobby.
We actively engage in a variety of activities:
- Regular Monthly Meetings: Held on the second Tuesday of each month, featuring informative presentations, technical discussions, and club updates.
- Public Service Support: Partnering with local organizations to provide reliable communication during events and times of need.
- Annual Field Day: Participating in the ARRL’s Field Day, an exciting opportunity to operate portable stations outdoors and test our emergency communication capabilities.
- Technical Projects and Learning: Engaging members in hands-on projects, demonstrations, and workshops to enhance technical skills.
- Repeater Operations: Maintaining and supporting local amateur radio repeaters that extend communication range for our members.
Whether you’re a licensed Ham, just starting your journey into amateur radio, or simply curious about what it’s all about, ACARTS extends a warm welcome.
