Amateur Radio Emergency Service (A.R.E.S.)
Your Role in Community Preparedness
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (A.R.E.S.) is a dedicated group of licensed amateur radio operators who volunteer their skills and equipment to provide crucial communication support during emergencies and disasters. As an A.R.E.S. member, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that vital information flows seamlessly when traditional communication channels are compromised.
What Does A.R.E.S. Do?
- Emergency Communication: We provide backup communication for public safety agencies, hospitals, and other organizations during emergencies such as natural disasters, severe weather events, and other crises.
- Public Service Events: We participate in and support community events like walkathons, marathons, and festivals, honing our communication skills and ensuring public safety. These events provide valuable training and keep us prepared for real-world emergency situations.
- Training and Preparedness: A.R.E.S. emphasizes continuous training and skill development. We conduct drills and workshops to enhance our operational effectiveness and ensure we’re ready to respond when needed.
